un puits au Kenya - de l'eau pour un village

Rencontré en janvier 2024, Raphael (T-shirt bleu) s’est investi dans le développement d’une petite ferme agricole.

Dans la région de Mombasa, il cultive fruits et légumes, et élève quelques poulets et chèvres … le climat tropical provoque des périodes de sécheresse.

Père de famille, il travaille dur pour nourrir ses proches.

Généreux, il donne accès au puits situé sur sa ferme pour offrir de l’eau potable aux 1500 habitants du village.

2 problèmes surgissent :

1-    Pomper l’eau du puits à environ 30 mètres coûte en électricité

2-    Le puits ne suffit plus à abreuver les villageois et arroser les cultures de la ferme.

Solution : creuser un 2ème puits.

Je lance donc un appel pour m’aider à financer ce nouveau puits.

Le coût moyen d’un tel forage au Kenya est d’environ 10.000 €.

Les hommes du village se relaient pour creuser, ce qui ramène le coût à environ 4.000,00 €.

Qui comprend :

-        la main d’œuvre pour creuser jusqu’à 30 m à la pioche !

-        Le ciment et matériaux pour construire les parois du puits

-        Le système de pompage.

“A Well in Kenya” Project

In January 2024, I met Raphael (the blue T-shirt guy on the pic), who decided to develop a small farm.

In Mombasa region, he grows fruits and vegetables, and raises a few chickens and goats…

The tropical climate causes periods of drought.

As a good responsible family man, he works hard to feed his loved ones.

Generously, he shares the well on his farm to provide drinking water to the 1,500 inhabitants of the village.

Two problems have arisen:

1-    Pumping water from the well, which is about 30 meters deep, requires electricity.

2-    The well is no longer sufficient to provide drinking water for the villagers and irrigate the farm's crops.

Solution: Dig a second well.

I am therefore appealing to help me finance this new well.

The average cost for digging a well in Kenya is approximately €10,000.

The men of the village are taking turns digging, which brings the cost down to approximately €4,000.00.

This includes:

- Labor to dig up to 30 meters with pickaxes!

- Cement and materials to build the well walls

- The pumping system.
