Under The Waterline

Hello, my name is Luca Lettieri. I'm a director based in Paris and I'm currently working on my next short film.

Elliott, a man in his early 20's, moves to a new city alone as he looks for a substantial change in his life. On his journey he meets various strangers who make him realize what truly counts is what lies within. The film has elements of mysticism, performing arts, religion/spirituality and all these intertwine to create the main question of the film: Is man truly man, or a creature more primal?

The world of this short film is an absurd one, yet it still retains aspects of our everyday reality. It's the first curious glance of a child through a keyhole, and on the other side of the door lies the question: Is it truly possible to live outside of society?

The short film is in English because i want to address the theme of human alienation caused by the United States' capitalistic empire and its cultural colonization across the globe.

If I could describe in two words what I hope to evoke with this film, they would be: non-conventional. In the sense that I want to challenge our notions and ideas of what we consider normal in our daily lives, without straying too far from our reality.
