Hi, my name is Mugisha Hakizimana and I am going into  intermediate year of the three year LLB at UCT. This fundraiser is to raise my remaining R62 276 outstanding fee debt to allow me to reregister for the new year. This year I took the chance and began my LLB at UCT and I can say it was one of the best decisions I have made in my life. I have learnt things about the law and myself that I would never have. However, due to being a permanent residence I did not qualify for most scholarships. Despite this, throughout the year I have worked earnestly as a tutor and waitress to contribute to my fees all while studying full time. I have fully immersed myself in everything law had to offer me, both in and out of the classroom.
Academically, my most notable achievements so far were scoring three firsts out of 6 courses with an average of 73% in my mid year examinations with 80% for my Property Law exam and 89% for my Foundations of South African Law exam. I have been a committed volunteer with Shawco Law where I have been selected to be a 2026 executive member and placed third at the University of Pretoria in the national Child Law Moot.
For me, this LLB will be my licence to make more than just my own dreams come true. I am an example to my sister and young girls the community of Yeoville and Berea where I grew up.
